McKenzie Drake's work explores the viridescent flora of the wild and untamed spaces of the Southern US. These works, which operate through the lens of landscape painting and abstraction, explore the notion of place identity and its relationship to movement and change.

McKenzie's work has been exhibited across the Southeast, including The 48th Annual Bi-State Art Competition and Exhibition at the Meridian Museum of Art in Meridian, Mississippi, and her solo show Less | Earth | Bound at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. Additionally, her work has been acquired by Rhodes College, Memphis, Tennessee where it remains on view. Her pieces have also been featured in Women and Their Work's "Fresh from the Studio" program, along with The Trail Conservancy’s fundraiser “Twilight on the Trail,” both in Austin, Texas. She is a two-time grant awardee from the Mississippi Arts Commission and was nominated for the Dedalus Foundation Master of Fine Arts Fellowship.

McKenzie received her BA from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and her MFA in painting from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives and works in Charleston, South Carolina.
